Jefferson County has a state champion in its corner this summer. The Jefferson County Little League Senior Softball team has won the Oregon State Championship and is now preparing to represent the state at the Regional Tournament in Missoula, Montana, scheduled for July 23 through July 28.

The state title is a significant achievement for the program, which has been building toward this moment through a competitive summer schedule. The Senior Softball division features players ages 13–16 competing at a level that demands both individual skill and strong team chemistry.

State Tournament Path

Oregon hosted its Little League State Junior/Senior Softball Tournament this month at a District 2 site, with teams from across the state vying for the right to advance to the regional level. Jefferson County’s squad made the most of the opportunity, earning the championship and the chance to go further than any local team has in recent memory.

The district had also hosted action earlier in the summer at Juniper Hills Park in Madras, giving the community a front-row look at the talent coming through the program.

Road to Missoula

The Northwest Regional Tournament in Missoula brings together state champions from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and surrounding states. For the Jefferson County squad, it’s a once-in-a-season opportunity to test themselves against the best programs in the Pacific Northwest.

To get there, the team needs help. The league has launched a fundraising campaign to cover travel, lodging, and tournament expenses and is actively seeking donations from community members and business sponsors.

Anyone interested in supporting the team can contact the Jefferson County Little League through its local league channels or reach out directly through league officials.

Community Pride

Youth sports have long been a cornerstone of Jefferson County community life, and a state softball championship — heading into a regional tournament — is the kind of milestone that brings the whole county together. From Madras to Culver to Crooked River Ranch, the team represents something bigger than the game itself.
