Brinley Mae Holyan captured first place in Breakaway Roping during the opening round of the Oregon High School Rodeo Association State Finals in Prineville, posting the fastest time against top competitors from across the state. The finals wrapped up Saturday at Crook County Fairgrounds.

The Madras High School track and field team is having its best qualifying season in recent memory, sending a record 17 athletes and five alternates to the OSAA State Track and Field Championships.
