The Madras White Buffalos are back on the road Saturday night, making the roughly two-hour drive south to take on the Klamath Union Pelicans in a 3A Special District 3 league game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Klamath Falls.
Buffalos Looking to Build Momentum
Madras comes in at 1-3 on the season after last week's win over Coquille — a result that snapped a three-game skid and gave the Buffalos some much-needed confidence heading into district play. For a program that has spent three consecutive seasons competing at the 3A level despite holding 4A enrollment, every district win carries added weight in the playoff picture.
A Stiff Test in the Pelicans
Klamath Union presents a formidable challenge. The Pelicans are also a 4A school playing down in 3A this season and entered the week at 3-0 — ranked among the top teams in the classification. They've been one of the stronger sides in Special District 3 and will be playing at home, where they hold a notable advantage.
The district matchup adds urgency. With the postseason approaching, both programs need league wins to strengthen their playoff positioning. For Madras, a road upset would be a statement game; for Klamath Union, maintaining an unbeaten district record is the priority.
Volleyball Also in Action
The Buffalos' volleyball team is also scheduled for action this week. Check back at madrasbulletin.com for updated scores and coverage from tonight's football game and the rest of the week's fall sports slate.
White Buffalos fans making the trip south on Highway 97 are encouraged to check road conditions before departing, as October evenings in the high desert can turn cold and foggy quickly.
