In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Community Wellness Center at Warm Springs is hosting a Pinktober Fun Run/Walk on Monday, October 19 — and the whole community is welcome.

Event Details

Sign-ups begin at noon on the front lawn of the Community Center. The event is free and open to tribal members and community supporters of all ages and fitness levels. Participants are encouraged to wear pink in solidarity with those who have faced breast cancer.

The Fun Run/Walk is designed to be inclusive — whether you run, jog, or walk, you are welcome. The event honors community members who have battled breast cancer and raises awareness about the importance of early screening and preventive care.

Why It Matters

Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers affecting women in the United States, and Native American communities face unique health challenges that can make access to screening and care more difficult. Events like the Pinktober Fun Run/Walk play a role in both raising awareness and building community connection around health.

October is a time for communities across the country to come together, honor survivors, and encourage everyone to take charge of their health. Events like this one remind us that we don't face these challenges alone.
