Families on the Warm Springs Reservation are invited to a community celebration before the school year gets underway. The annual Warm Springs Back-to-School Barbecue is set for Wednesday, September 3, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Warm Springs K-8 Academy.
The free community event is a beloved tradition that gives students, parents, teachers, and tribal members a chance to reconnect ahead of the first day of school. Attendees can expect food, conversation, and a warm welcome back for the new academic year.
A Community Send-Off Before School Starts
The barbecue serves as more than just a social gathering — it’s an opportunity for families to meet teachers, learn about school programs, and pick up information on resources available through the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs’ education and youth services departments.
This year, the event takes on added significance as the community prepares to return to routines following a difficult summer that included wildfire activity, the Bench Fire recovery effort, and now the passing of Paiute Chief Joseph Moses. The barbecue offers a moment of forward-looking community spirit as Warm Springs families look ahead to the new school year.
