One of Central Oregon’s most significant cultural celebrations is just three weeks away. The annual Pi-Ume-Sha Treaty Days celebration will take place in Warm Springs from June 26 through June 28, 2026, bringing together tribal members, families, and visitors for a weekend of tradition, competition, and community.

The event commemorates the 1855 Treaty of Warm Springs and stands as a powerful affirmation of the living culture of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, Wasco, and Paiute peoples. It is open to the public.

This Year’s Theme: “Honoring the Horses”

The traditional parade, held Saturday, June 27th, carries a special theme this year: “Honoring the Horses.” Organizers are calling on community members to bring their horses out to celebrate the animals’ enduring importance to the culture, healing practices, and daily life of the Warm Springs people.

Lineup for parade participants begins at 10:00 a.m. with judging at 10:15 a.m. The parade steps off at 11:00 a.m. from the campus and ends at the powwow grounds. Registration opens Friday, June 26th at 3:00 p.m. at the powwow grounds and closes at 10:00 a.m. on the morning of the parade. All participants must be registered.

Organizers are encouraging riders and drivers to showcase:

  • Traditional regalia and horse masks
  • Sacred paint designs
  • Cowboy and ranch-style riders
  • Youth riders representing the next generation

The 2026 Grand Marshals will be representatives from the Traditional Horses community and the Rodeo Committee.

“Horses have always been a central part of the people’s way of life, culture, healing, and identity,” organizers shared in a statement. “This year is all about honoring the strength, beauty, spirit, and connection between the people and the horse — ensuring they are seen, celebrated, and remembered in a good way.”

Weekend Events

In addition to the parade, Pi-Ume-Sha Treaty Days features a full weekend of activities including:

  • Powwow with adult, teen, and youth dance divisions
