One of Central Oregon's most meaningful and vibrant annual gatherings is just around the corner. The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs will host Pi-Ume-Sha Treaty Days the week of June 23–28, 2026, at the Pi-Ume-Sha Powwow Grounds behind the Warm Springs Community Center.
Pi-Ume-Sha was founded in the late 1960s to honor Native military veterans and to educate the public about Tribal history. At its heart, the celebration commemorates the signing of the Treaty of 1855, which established the Warm Springs Reservation and secured the Tribes' sovereign rights to fish, hunt, and gather on their ancestral lands — rights that remain vital to Tribal identity and livelihoods today.
All activities are open to the public. Vendors set up with food, jewelry, beadwork, and other handmade items throughout the week.

A Living Tradition
The three-day powwow brings together drummers and dancers from tribes across the region, with competitive dancing in traditional regalia drawing participants of all ages. The parade is one of the most visually striking elements of the week, winding through the reservation with traditional dress, horses, and community floats.
The event takes on added significance this year, as the community is also mourning the recent passing of Chief Rafael Queahpama. Community members are encouraged to attend in a spirit of respect and celebration of the living traditions Chief Queahpama served.
