Jefferson County has a new state champion to cheer for — and the timing couldn't be sweeter. The Jefferson County Little League Senior Softball All-Stars have won the 2026 Oregon State Championship and are now headed to the Little League Senior Softball Regional Tournament in Missoula, Montana, July 23–28.

The team's story is as heartwarming as the win itself. This group of players bonded years ago through the Jefferson County Little League program, playing together before going their separate ways to compete in high school softball at Madras, Warm Springs, and Culver. After those high school years, player Gabriella Terrazas had a simple but powerful idea: get the old crew back together one last time.

Gabi convinced her mother, Cassie Terrazas, to take on the head coaching role — on one condition. "She begged her mom to coach, and obviously that worked out in her favor," according to reporting from the Madras Pioneer. Cassie agreed if Gabi could rally the team. One by one, the family reached out to former teammates, and the "dream team" was reassembled.

A Season to Remember

The All-Stars advanced out of the Oregon District 5 tournament in Prineville, then traveled to the State Tournament in Hood River where they claimed the championship — earning Jefferson County a berth on the national circuit for the first time in recent memory.

Coaches praised the team for the cohesion they rebuilt quickly despite not playing together regularly for years.

Support the Team Today

Travel to Missoula for a week-long regional tournament isn't cheap, and the community is stepping up. The team is hosting a fundraiser today, Saturday, July 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside NAPA Auto Parts in Madras. The event features a car wash, barbecue, and raffle. Every dollar raised goes directly toward travel expenses.

If you can't make it in person, consider spreading the word — this team is representing all of Jefferson County, drawing players from across the Madras, Warm Springs, and Culver communities.
