Mark your calendars: the 2026 Jefferson County Fair and Rodeo opens in just four days, running July 22–25 at the Jefferson County Event Complex on Fairgrounds Road in Madras. It's the county's signature summer tradition and one of the largest community gatherings in the region.

What's at the Fair

The fair showcases the agricultural heritage and community spirit that defines Jefferson County. Expect a full lineup of events across all four days, including:

  • Livestock and animal exhibits — horses, cattle, sheep, swine, and more
  • 4-H and FFA youth exhibits — crops, woodworking, art, photography, and home arts projects from local kids
  • Rodeo events — bull riding, barrel racing, team roping, and other classic Western competition
  • Carnival rides for all ages
  • Live music and entertainment throughout the weekend
  • Fair food vendors — funnel cakes, corn dogs, and local favorites
  • Local vendor booths featuring crafts, goods, and community organizations

Free Homestead Tours

The Jefferson County Historical Society is offering a special treat during fair week: free guided tours of the historic Farrell homestead house and the early-day schoolhouse on the fairgrounds, running daily 1–3 p.m., July 22–25. Board members will provide antique car rides between the sites. It's a rare look at the county's pioneer roots — and it costs nothing.

Free Snowcones in the Park

Looking to beat the summer heat? Free snowcones will be handed out in the park on July 23 from noon to 2 p.m. Check the Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce for location details.
