Residents of Crooked River Ranch have their own way of celebrating Independence Day — and this year's festivities promise live music, good food, and community spirit before the night skies over Jefferson County light up with fireworks.
The Crooked River Ranch Barn Dance will take place at Mac Park, 5195 Clubhouse Road, with an hour of social time beginning at 6 p.m. and the live band kicking off at 7 p.m.
The Central Oregon Barbecue Company will be on-site providing food, and Black Goat Winery will have drinks available for purchase. The event is a classic summer community gathering — the kind that makes Crooked River Ranch one of the more tightly-knit unincorporated communities in Jefferson County.
About Crooked River Ranch
Crooked River Ranch is a large planned community located off Highway 97 north of Terrebonne in the western part of Jefferson County, straddling the Jefferson-Deschutes county line. With thousands of residents spread across canyon-rim lots and sagebrush-lined roads, it has its own community association, events committee, and deep sense of local identity.
The community's Events Committee organizes gatherings throughout the year — including this Barn Dance — to keep residents connected across a geography that can otherwise feel spread out. Mac Park, the community's central gathering space at the Clubhouse Road location, is a regular site for community events.
A Full Fourth of July Weekend
The Crooked River Ranch Barn Dance fits neatly into a full Fourth of July weekend across Jefferson County. In Madras, events at Sahalee Park run from 7 a.m. through afternoon, with the Madras Sparklers fireworks show scheduled for 10 p.m. at Madras High School — visible from much of the county.
Whether you're spending the holiday at Mac Park, Sahalee Park, or somewhere in between, Jefferson County is offering a full slate of family-friendly events to mark America's 250th birthday. Bring a lawn chair to the Ranch Barn Dance — and remember to enjoy the show responsibly given current fire restrictions across the region.
