Job seekers in Jefferson County have a major opportunity coming up next month. Central Oregon Community College's Madras campus will host its annual JobFest on Wednesday, October 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., as part of COCC's four-campus fall hiring event series.
More than 40 regional employers and public agencies are expected to participate, making it one of the largest hiring events of the year in Jefferson County. The event is open to the public — whether you are a current COCC student, a recent graduate, or a community member looking for work or a career change.
Free Resume Help Available Now
COCC is also offering free drop-in resume workshops in late September and early October ahead of JobFest. These sessions are designed to help attendees put their best foot forward before walking through the door on October 14. Workshop dates and times can be confirmed through the COCC Madras campus office.
Participants are encouraged to bring printed copies of their resume and dress professionally, as some employers conduct on-the-spot interviews during the event.
What to Expect at JobFest
JobFest is a traditional job fair format: employer tables are set up throughout the venue, and attendees circulate to speak directly with hiring managers and recruiters. Past events have drawn employers from sectors including healthcare, construction, agriculture, government, education, transportation, and retail.
Jefferson County's proximity to Bend, Redmond, and the broader Central Oregon workforce market means the employer list typically spans a wide geographic range, with positions that can be filled locally or regionally.
COCC Madras: A Community Resource
The Madras COCC campus — located at 2030 S.E. College Loop — continues to serve as a key educational and workforce resource for Jefferson County residents. In addition to two- and four-year degree pathways, the campus offers career-focused programs in nursing, welding, and other trades, many of which have direct pipelines to regional employers.
