Mark your calendars: the Airshow of the Cascades is coming back to Madras at the end of the month, offering two full days of aerial performances, ground displays, and community festivities at the Madras Municipal Airport.
The 2026 event is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, August 28-29, at 2028 NW Berg Dr., Madras. The airshow has grown into one of Jefferson County's signature late-summer events, drawing aviation enthusiasts, families, and visitors from across Central Oregon and beyond.
What to Expect
Each year's show features a mix of military aircraft demonstrations, precision aerobatics, and civilian performance flying -- all viewed from the Madras airport's wide-open flightline. On the ground, attendees can browse a car show, explore vendor booths, and enjoy live music throughout the day.
Private chalets are available for groups of up to 24 people and include seating, shade, and general admission tickets. Chalets are offered for either the Friday afternoon/evening show or the Saturday morning/afternoon show. VFW Beef Raffle Drawing at the Show
The local VFW will hold its annual beef raffle drawing during the airshow weekend. Three winners will each receive one-quarter beef, donated from the Jefferson County Fair's 4-H and FFA auction by Central Oregon Ranch Supply. Raffle tickets are available at the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce office or from any VFW member. Proceeds support local youth programs and VFW scholarships.
A Boost for Local Business
The airshow brings a significant economic boost to Madras, filling hotels, RV parks, and restaurants during what organizers hope will become an even larger annual tradition. Last year, classic rock tribute festival Legends Reloaded drew similar crowds to town and demonstrated the appetite for destination events in Jefferson County.
