It's been a full week across the Warm Springs Reservation and the broader tribal community, with a new business opening in Madras, a major elder celebration, upcoming district government meetings, and a free community health event.

New Coffee Shop Opens in Madras

Warm Springs tribal member Theo Perez held the grand opening and ribbon cutting for Theo's Longhouse Strong Coffee, Spirit of the Brew on Saturday, May 9. The shop is located at 35 NW Cherry Lane, Suite 101 — in the Eagle Ridge Industrial Space across Highway 26 from the travel plaza in Madras.

The business is one of several tribal-member-owned enterprises operating in Jefferson County, reflecting growing entrepreneurial activity among Warm Springs community members both on and off the reservation.

Honor Seniors Day at the Agency Longhouse

The Senior Building hosted its annual Honor Seniors Day on Friday, May 8, with this year's theme: Rockin' the Ages. Elders gathered at the Agency Longhouse starting at 9 a.m. for a salmon bake, door prizes, raffles, and games — including a costume contest for seniors dressed in their favorite rock 'n' roll era attire. The early childhood education department held a powwow at 10 a.m. as part of the day's festivities.
