The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs observed Juneteenth on Friday, June 19, 2026, with a range of closures, community events, and celebrations, as the federal holiday continues to deepen in meaning for tribal members and neighbors across Jefferson County.
What Was Open and Closed
IHS programs at the Warm Springs Health and Wellness Center were closed in observance of the federal holiday. The Warm Springs Boys and Girls Club was also closed. Human Resources and Compensation and Benefits offices closed to support the employee appreciation event.
Employee Appreciation Carnival
A festive Employee Appreciation Carnival ran from noon to 3 p.m. at the Campus Pavilion — open to all tribal and enterprise employees with a valid ID. The event featured music, carnival booths with drinks, snacks and games, and a BBQ provided by Warm Springs Prevention and Health and Human Services. Raffle drawings began at 2:30 p.m., with a basketball showdown to close out the afternoon.
Community Programs and Services
Warm Springs Behavioral Health Center continued its Friday programs including Relapse Prevention Group at 11 a.m., Art + Emotion Group with Dr. Largent from 3-4 p.m., and Wellbriety Group Therapy from 4-5 p.m. — the afternoon groups open to the public.
Friday’s Senior Lunch Day featured a special monthly cookout: steaks and hot dogs, pasta salad, pork and beans, and fresh fruit for elders 60 and older at the Senior Wellness Center.
The Sacred Road Summer Program for kids in kindergarten through 6th grade also met behind the Warm Springs Community Center from 3-5 p.m. The program continues every other week through late July.
Coming Up: Treaty Day BBQ and Fourth of July
Looking ahead, the Tribal Council will host a Treaty Day BBQ on Thursday, June 25, at the Community Center Pavilion starting at 11 a.m. The Council will barbecue hamburgers and hot dogs until the food runs out.
The Warm Springs Fourth of July celebration is set for Saturday, July 4, with the theme “250 Years of America, Time Immemorial Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs.” The day begins with a 5K fun run/walk at 8 a.m., with pre-registration and on-site registration available at the Community Center office.
