The City of Madras is looking for two community-minded residents to fill temporary vacancies on the City Council, with public interviews set for the evening of Tuesday, September 1st.
The positions became necessary following the August resignation of Councilor Mike Seibold, who stepped down effective immediately, according to the Madras Pioneer. The city is now seeking two appointments to serve through December 31, 2026 — the remainder of the current council terms.

The application window for the temporary positions officially closed Sunday, August 23rd at 11:59 p.m. for electronic submissions, with paper applications due by 5 p.m. on August 21st. Applicants submitted their materials to the city at kpollock@madras.gov or in person at Madras City Hall.
The City Council will hold a public Q&A and interview session on Tuesday, September 1st at 5:30 p.m., during which council members may vote to make appointments that evening. The session will be open to the public.

To be eligible for appointment, applicants must be:
- A registered voter in the City of Madras
- A resident within Madras city limits
- Able to serve through December 31, 2026
Appointed councilors attend regular city council meetings and participate in decisions on city budgets, infrastructure projects, land use, and other local government matters.
