Crooked River Ranch’s most celebrated local business just got bigger. Over The Edge Taphouse, named Jefferson County’s Business of the Year in January by the Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, has opened The Edge RV Park on the adjacent property, giving visitors a place to park overnight and make a full weekend of it.
Co-owner Lynnelle Morgan says the expansion was a natural evolution of what the taphouse has become since opening six years ago.
“People could gather and we could have outdoor live music and hold events and families could come. It’s just a gathering place for people to come and enjoy themselves,” Morgan said. “Since then, it’s morphed into something bigger than that.”
The taphouse now draws visitors from around the world, Morgan said, and expanding to include overnight accommodations was “naturally the progression.”
What’s at The Edge RV Park
The RV park offers 28 total spaces across three categories:
- 9 full hook-up sites — 50-amp electricity, water, and sewer
- 16 partial hook-up sites — 30-amp electricity, water, and sewer
- 3 basic sites — 20 or 30-amp electricity and water, no sewer
Spaces vary in size to accommodate different RV types. Bathrooms, showers, and a dog park are also available on-site. Guests can walk directly to the taphouse for nightly events, live music, food, and drinks.
A Gathering Place Grows
RV park co-owner Dan Meyer, Morgan’s son-in-law, said the idea started simply enough — they wanted a place for family and friends to stay when visiting the taphouse. But the potential quickly became obvious.
“Why would we just have an area for our family and friends to park, when we could just have an RV park that the public can use?” Meyer said.
The project was funded in part through the Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council, which Morgan said was “exemplary” and “instrumental” in helping them get to opening day.
Crooked River Ranch Gets Another Destination
The Ranch, situated on a peninsula flanked by canyon walls along the Crooked River, has long been one of Central Oregon’s most scenic communities. The addition of the RV park gives visitors traveling through the region another reason to stop and stay rather than just pass through.
“Crooked River Ranch and that peninsula is such a unique location in that it’s got the canyons on either side, and the scenery, and the centralized location,” Meyer said.
Over The Edge Taphouse holds monthly events including car shows and concerts. The addition of overnight accommodations positions the taphouse as a destination rather than a stop — good news for a community that increasingly recognizes tourism as an economic pillar.
